Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 4 or 5 tbsp. cocoa
- 2/3 cup nuts (pecans or walnuts)
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 2 or 3 drops almond flavoring
- 1 tbsp. butter or margarine
- 4 tbsp. white Karo (corn) syrup
- 1 cup whole milk
Method
- Mix well the sugar, cocoa, and salt
- Add milk and corn syrup and cook over medium-low heat until the mixture will form a firm ball when dropped in cold water
- Remove from heat, add butter and beat until mixture begins to thicken; then add flavoring and nuts
- Continue beating until mixture will hold its shape
- Pour on to sprayed or greased pan or plate
- Allow to cool, then cut in squares
