Ingredients
- 1 lb. pinto beans, dried
- 1 med. onion, chopped
- 2-3 cloves garlic, chopped
- 1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
- 1 1/2 to 3 tbsp. cumin powder
- oil or bacon drippings.
Method
- Soak beans overnight
- Simmer beans 1 hour
- Salt and pepper to taste, if desired
- Brown onion and garlic in oil or drippings
- Add onions, garlic, tomato sauce and cumin powder to beans
- Simmer beans 30 minutes or more
- The beans are better if cooked one day and eaten the next day
