Ingredients
- Serving Size : 6
- 3 cups milk
- 1/3 cup cornmeal
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup molasses
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/8 teaspoon baking soda
Method
- Heat oven to 275 degrees.
- Heat milk in large, heavy saucepan over medium heat until bubbles appear around edge of pan.
- Stir cornmeal slowly into milk.
- Cook about 10 minutes or until thickened, stirring constantly.
- Remove from heat.
- Mix in sugar, molasses, salt, cinnamon, ginger and soda.
- Pour into greased 1 quart casserole.
- Bake 2 hours or until knife inserted in center comes out clean.
- Serve warm with whipped cream, if desired.
