Ingredients
- 2 pkgs. yeast
- 1/4 c. water, 120 degrees
- 1 c. milk
- 1 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. butter
- 1 tsp. salt
- 6 c. flour
- 3 eggs, well beaten
- 1 egg, beaten (opt.)
Method
- Dissolve yeast in water
- Scald milk and add sugar, butter and salt
- Add 2 cups flour, beat until smooth
- Beat in 3 eggs and yeast
- Add remaining flour
- Knead 15 to 20 minutes
- Add more flour as needed
- Let rise until double
- Punch down and place in 2 greased pie plates
- Let rise until double
- Brush with beaten egg, if desired, and bake at 350 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes
- If you don’t brush with egg, brush with melted margarine after baking
