Ingredients
Makes about 1 cup
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 3 tablespoons water
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- ¾ cup plain or vanilla soy milk
Method
- In a medium saucepan, combine the sugar and water and bring to a boil
- Reduce the heat to low and simmer until it turns an amber color, about 8 minutes
- Do not burn
- Remove from the heat and stir in the vanilla and soy milk
- Simmer over low heat until it thickens slightly, stirring constantly
- Serve warm or chilled
- Store leftover sauce covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days
