Ingredients
Makes one 12-inch pizza
- olive oil
- 1 cup warm water
- 1 (1/4 ounce) packet active dry yeast (21/4 teaspoons)
- 1 1/4 teaspoons salt
- pinch sugar
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour, plus more as needed
Method
- Lightly oil a medium bowl and set aside
- In a separate medium bowl, combine the warm water and yeast
- Stir until yeast is dissolved
- Add the salt, sugar and flour and mix just long enough to form a soft dough
- Add small additional amounts of flour if the dough is too sticky
- Do not overmix
- With well-floured hands, place the dough into the oiled bowl, turning the dough to coat with oil
- Cover with plastic wrap or a clean kitchen towel
- Let the dough rise in a warm spot until doubled in bulk, about 1 hour
