Ingredients
- 1 pound (455 g) dried black-eyed peas
- 955 ml water
- ¼ teaspoon pepper
- 1 cup (160 g) chopped onion
- ½ cup (50 g) chopped celery
- ½ pound (255 g) ham, cut in pieces
Method
- Soak beans in water overnight
- Drain and place in slow cooker
- Add water and remaining ingredients
- Cover and cook on high 1 to 2 hours and then turn to low and cook 8 to 9 hours
- Yield: 6 servings
Serve over rice with cornbread
