Ingredients
- 2 tbsps (28 ml) olive oil
- 1½ pounds (680 g) extra-lean ground beef
- ½ cup (80 g) chopped onions
- ½ cup (50 g) diced celery
- ½ cup (75 g) chopped green bell pepper
- 1 tbsp (15 ml) Worcestershire sauce
- ½ cup (120 g) low-salt ketchup
- ½ teaspoon minced garlic
- ¼ teaspoon pepper
- ½ teaspoon paprika
- 1 can (6 ounces, or 170 g) no-salt-added tomato paste
- 2 tbsps (28 ml) vinegar
- 2 tsps brown sugar
- 1 tsp dry mustard
Method
- Heat oil in a saucepan over medium-high heat and brown beef
- Drain
- Combine beef and remaining ingredients in slow cooker
- Cover and cook on low 6 to 8 hours or on high 3 to 4 hours
- Yield: 8 servings
- Per serving: 108 g water; 276 calories (59% from fat, 25% from protein, 16% from carb)
