Ingredients
- 2 pkgs. dry yeast
- 1/2 c. warm water
- 1 c. milk, scalded
- 1/2 c. butter
- 2 tsp. salt
- 6 eggs
- 1 1/2 c. sugar
- 8 to 9 c. flour
Method
- In large mixing bowl, sprinkle yeast over warm water
- Add butter and salt to milk and let cool
- Beat eggs and sugar
- Add milk mixture, then stir into yeast mixture
- Add flour and knead to a soft touch
- Let sit in oiled bowl until double in size
- Knead again on board and divide into 3 to 4 parts
- Put in oiled pans (loaf pans) and let rise again until double in size
- Cook in preheated oven (350 degrees) for 30 minutes or until done
- Butter the tops of baked bread while still hot
- Don’t cut until cool
