Ingredients
- 1 cup skim or low-fat milk
- 1 pinch salt
- 1 cup quick oats
- 1 ripe banana, mashed
- 1 tablespoon pure maple syrup, plus more to taste
- 1 tablespoon chopped walnuts
Method
- In a saucepan over medium heat, combine milk, salt and 3/4 cup water; heat until almost boiling.
- Add oats and cook, stirring, until creamy, 1 to 2 minutes.
- Remove the pan from the heat and stir in mashed banana and 1 tablespoon maple syrup.
- Divide between 2 bowls, garnish with walnuts and a little more maple syrup and serve.
- Makes about 2 cups, for 2 servings.
- Calories per serving: 12 grams protein, 5 grams fat 0 gram saturated fat, 54 grams carbohydrate; 75 mg sodium; 2 mg cholesterol; 3 grams fiber
