Ingredients
- 2 1/2 pounds (1.1 kg) ground beef
- 5 ounces (140 g) Swiss cheese, diced small or grated
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1 green pepper, chopped
- 1 small rib celery, chopped
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
Method
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C, or gas mark 4)
- With clean hands combine all the ingredients in a large bowl until the mixture is well blended
- Pack the meat into one large loaf pan or two small ones
- Turn out onto a broiler rack
- Bake a large loaf for 1 1/2 to 1 3/4 hours
- Bake two small loaves for 1 1/4 hours
Makes 8 servings
- Each with 3 grams of carbohydrates and 1 gram of fiber, for a total of 2 grams of usable carbs and 30 grams of protein
