Malai Koftas Indian Recipe

Ingredients

  • 600 ml. Milk
  • 2-3 tbsp. Lemon juice
  • 4 tbsp. Gram flour (besan)
  • oil for frying.
  • salt to taste

For Gravy:

  • 3 tsp. Oil
  • 400ml Milk
  • 1 (large) Onion
  • 2 (medium) Tomatoes
  • 1 tsp. Turmeric Powder
  • 2 Green chillis
  • salt to taste

Method

  1. Heat milk in pan & bring it to boil.
  2. Remove from heat.
  3. Add lemon juice.
  4. Stir slowly & gently until white curd forms on the surface & separates from whey.
  5. Strain the milk.
  6. This will give you chenna.
  7. Squeeze chenna to make sure that most water is extracted.
  8. Knead chenna to make a smooth dough.
  9. Make small balls if equal size and wrap each ball in gram flour.
  10. Fry these chenna balls in oil until golden brown and keep aside.
  11. Making gravy: Take a pan/kadai with specified oil and fry chopped onion until it turns pink.
  12. Add turmeric powder & green chillies.
  13. Add chopped tomatoes and fry well till the mixture starts separating from oil.
  14. Now add milk in it & let it boil.
  15. Keep stiring in between.
  16. After boiling for approx.
  17. 5-7 min, add the fried chenna balls & let it boil for another two min.
  18. Serve hot with roti.
