Sweet Chocolate Cake

Ingredients

  • Serving Size : 1
  • 2 cups unsifted all-purpose – or cake flour
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2/3 cup butter
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 Eggs
  • 4 ounces Baker’s German Brand sweet chocolate – melted

Method

  1. Coconut-Pecan Frosting – see recipe
  2. Mix flour with sugar, soda, baking powder and salt.
  3. Stir butter to soften.
  4. Add flour mixture, buttermilk, vanilla, eggs, and chocolate.
  5. Blend.
  6. Then beat 3 minutes at medium speed of electric mixer, scrapping bowl frequently.
  7. Pour into 2 well-greased and floured 9″ layer pans.
  8. Bake at 350 degrees for about 35 minutes, or until cake tester comes out clean.
  9. Cool cake in pans 15 minutes; then remove from pans.
  10. Finish cooling on rack.
  11. Spread frosting between layers and over top.
