and rapid heart rate. Poor circulation can lead to a host of issues, including varicose veins, cold hands and feet, and poor memory or decreased cognitive function. Hawthorn is indicated with any of these as a good choice to increase blood flow to areas that need it.
Most fish oil supplements contain roughly three-fifths EPA and two-fifths DHA. If you want a high-EPA supplement use Omega-Brite, which contains 90 percent EPA and 10 percent DHA. To enhance the anti-inflammatory effects of omega-3 fish oils take gamma-linolenic acid supplements. (See the following section.) DHA supplements made from algae may not have the anti-inflammatory effect of EPA, but they may provide other health benefits, such as improving memory.

Dosages of 300 mg daily have been found helpful in improving memory, but 100 mg also might work in mild cases of memory impairment.
Important aspects of creating a good memory are: giving proper attention to the event or material to be remembered, encoding the memory for storage, and making the material re trievable when we try to recall it. Again, practice makes perfect. The more we practice a thing, repeat it, think about it, write it, the more attention we give it. And each time we repeat it, the neural pathway carrying the memory gets strengthened and more firmly encoded or changed from a visual or aural or otherwise sensed experience into electronic codes to be stored, in a manner that is not unlike the way your computer stores its information into memory. And the more we practice, the easier it is to recall the material or bring it out of storage.
Alzheimers disease is a slow, progressive disease, starting with mild memory problems and ending with severe mental damage. How long a course the disease takes and how fast changes occur vary from person to person and may run from five to twenty or more years. To date, there is no treatment that can stop the disease. However, for some people in the early and middle stages of the disease, the drugs Tacrine, or THAT, or Cognex may alleviate some symptoms. Also, certain medicines may help to control behavioral symptoms of Alzheimers disease, such as sleeplessness, agitation, wandering, anxiety, and depression. Treating these symptoms often makes patients more comfortable and makes their care easier for care-givers. Supplemental 5-HTP has been used in Europe for some of these secondary symptoms with a degree of success.
